By accessing or using Doomstop ("we", "our", or "us"), including our iOS application and related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use our Site or App.
1. Description of Service
Doomstop is an iOS productivity application that helps users manage their device usage by blocking distracting apps and websites. The app utilizes Apple's Screen Time API and Device Activity framework to provide app blocking, scheduling, and productivity tracking features.
You may use the Site and App for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
You agree not to:
- Misuse or attempt to disrupt the Site or App
- Use the App for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or circumvent the App's functionality
- Share your account credentials with others
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
2. iOS App Permissions and Requirements
To function properly, Doomstop requires certain iOS permissions, including:
- Screen Time API access to monitor and block apps
- Family Controls entitlement to enforce blocking schedules
- Notifications to send reminders and alerts
The App requires iOS 16.0 or later. You are responsible for maintaining a compatible device and iOS version. We are not responsible if the App does not function on jailbroken or modified devices.
3. User Responsibility
You acknowledge that:
- You are responsible for configuring the App's blocking settings appropriately
- The App is a productivity tool and does not guarantee results
- Blocking features depend on Apple's Screen Time framework and may be affected by iOS updates or system limitations
- You should not rely solely on the App for critical time-sensitive tasks or emergency access to blocked apps
- Emergency services and critical system functions are never blocked
4. Subscriptions and Payments
We may offer premium features through paid subscriptions. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to:
- The applicable pricing and billing terms displayed at the time of purchase
- Automatic renewal unless cancelled before the renewal date
- Payment through Apple's In-App Purchase system, subject to Apple's terms
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings. Refunds are handled according to Apple's refund policy.
We reserve the right to change pricing, features, or discontinue services with reasonable notice.
5. Data and Privacy
We collect and process minimal data necessary to provide our services. For details about data collection, storage, and usage, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Your app blocking configurations and usage data may be stored locally on your device and synchronized across your devices via iCloud (if enabled). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
6. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site or App may include links to third-party websites or services. These are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of external sites or services.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of Doomstop, including logos, branding, design, software code, and written materials, is the property of Doomstop and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Use of the Site and App is at your own risk. The services are provided as is and as available, with no warranties of any kind. We disclaim all liability for:
- Interruptions in service or blocking functionality
- Compatibility issues with your device or iOS version
- Any losses, damages, or consequences resulting from blocked or unblocked apps
- Data loss or synchronization issues
- Reliance on the App for productivity or time management
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Doomstop SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP OR SERVICES.
Our total liability to you for all claims shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
9. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App and services at any time for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent or abusive behavior
- Non-payment of subscription fees
- Any other reason at our sole discretion
Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Paid subscriptions may not be refunded except as required by law.
10. Changes to the App and Terms
We may update the App, add or remove features, or modify these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and reflected by the "Effective Date" above. Significant changes may be communicated via email or in-app notification.
Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Apple-Specific Terms
The App is available through Apple's App Store. You acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and Doomstop, not Apple
- Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them
- You must comply with Apple's App Store Terms of Service
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Ontario, Canada, except where prohibited by law. You waive any right to a jury trial or class action lawsuit.
